At the start of the month, we were lucky enough to interview 6 fantastic applicants for our expedition internship. It might sound cliched, but we were blown away by the quality of the applications and the enthusiasm everyone expressed for the expedition.
We want to thank everyone who applied for the time they invested in the application process.
Meet Keira
Keira is a student paramedic and expedition leader, with previous experience as an inclusion support and community engagement professional.
She is enthusiastic about all outdoor activities and nature engagement. When not on an ambulance she can be found in the hills, either supporting runners as an event medic or teaching navigation skills so that other people can plan their own adventures.
She is particularly passionate about bringing active lifestyle, sustainability and inclusion into the everyday. If she is not out exploring, she can be found curled up on her narrowboat with a book planning her next adventure.
Meet Kat
Kat is a junior doctor based in Glasgow currently working in emergency medicine. She is interested in global health and social determinents of disease.
She has previously volunteered with Future Health Africa on their trauma team project in Kenya, and with Morning Star's children's centre in South Africa for children with HIV.
In the last year she has worked as an expedition doctor for The British Exploring Society in Kyrgyzstan and recently returned from a self supported cycling trip from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.
Kat's is also a qualified mountain leader. When she's not working she spends most of her free time exploring the Scottish hills or surfing on the coast.
