Meet the Team:
Daniel is a portfolio GP based in South Wales. He holds both the International Diploma in Expedition and Wilderness Medicine, from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

In 2019, he was the Chief Medic for British Exploring in the Canadian Yukon, looking after a group of 50 young people as they trekked and wild camped in the wilderness and he held a similar role in 2021, albeit in the Scottish highlands, due to COVID restrictions impacting on international travel.
He is a tutor for the postgraduate diploma in Expedition and Wilderness Medicine run by Diploma MSc and also regularly teaches on World Extreme Medicine and Unique Expeditions courses.
Ruksha is a GP in Abergavenny. She has a specialist interest in women's health and medical education, and has worked extensively with Kings College London medical school.
She has travelled and backpacked extensively around the world and has provided medical cover on multiple events, including the 2018 Kenya Impact Marathon and the Deloite 2019 Ride Across Britain, a Land’s End to John O Groats endurance cycling event.
She is a keen linguist and has also taught herself how to code in her spare time, developing an app called Flash! AKT to help GP trainees with their exams.
I just wanted to say thank you so much again for leading such a fantastic case discussions session with us on Monday. A number of participants have said how much they enjoyed it - particularly how realistic the scenarios were, and how relaxed and well led the session was.

I hope you are having a great day. We just wanted to thank you so much for giving a great talk about mental health during wilderness expeditions. I know that we all gained great knowledge about how to take care of ourselves and others.

Dr Grace gave a fantastic talk to the Cardiff WEMS society in September 2020 with interactive wilderness medicine case studies. The students found it very thorough and informative and learnt a lot about treating patients in austere environments. Thank you so much Daniel, your enthusiasm and knowledge was very evident!
